Spring 2024

Year 5 have started our Data topic in Computing. We looked at how to physically sort data cards, linked our living things topic in Science. We tried lots of different ways of sorting and then looked at an online data base and compared the two.

We thought that the Computer data base was a lot easier, but recognised it would be time consuming to enter it all!
Year 5 had a fabulous time at Scotswood Garden, learning all about the life cycle of Newts, working scientifically to identify living things and created our own clay newts!
We have loved taking part in our Dance session this half term. Each week we will be learning different styles of Indian dancing, this week we included props into our routines- super tricky!
This week we went to Bollywood with our dance moves! We also enjoyed creating our class page in our Reading Journal. Lots of us have signed up to take this home and complete our own entries!
We had great fun taking part in Keepy-up Challenge with Mr Dodds this week, as well as creating melodies using code. We are excited to put our guitar together once they are decorated next week!
Year 5 enjoyed the valentines disco this week. We havealso loved creating, planning and programming their own electric guitars. We had a change to test and tinker with them before performing  to each other on Friday!
We had a great time at our maths workshop with our parents. Thank you to everyone that joined our session!
Year 5 took Maths outside this week. We collected our own continuous data and presented it back in class. We also enjoyed taking part in visualising during our mindfulness session.
We loved our Cube Jar afternoon in forest school and planting a range of bulbs, tubas and seeds (linked to our science topic!))
We've been learning all about the weather in French this half term
