Leadership Opportunities
We believe it is important to develop leadership skills alongside teaching our children to become good citizens within our school community, as well as the wid
er community.
When we think about leaders and their qualities, it is clear to see that these are the core values we want to develop in our pupils. There are many ways that leadership is grown and developed in our pupils.
There are a range of Leadership Opportunities available for children to participate in.
Some of these roles are elected by peers and some of these roles require pupils to apply for the role.
For elected roles, children are asked to produce a speech and poster. This is presented to the class and the class have a secret ballot to elect their preferred candidate.
When children apply for a role, they are required to complete an application, either by completing a form or by writing a letter of application. They are then selected upon merit.
Student Leaders (Elected)
Each September, four children from Year 6 are elected to be representatives to lead the Student Council and represent the school in an official capacity. They prepare speeches and are democratically voted to the position of Student Leader by their peers. New elections take place in September.
Student Council (Elected)
Each September, two children from each class are elected to be representatives for each class on the Student Council. They prepare speeches and are democratically voted to the position of Student Council. They are involved in many of the monitoring and evaluation activities in school ensuring we have a strong pupil voice in all aspects of teaching and learning. The Student Council also lead on our social justice and charitable work.
School Chaplains (Apply)
Our Chaplains help prepare our prayer table and help plan and prepare masses, assemblies and liturgical prayer.
Well-being Buddies (Apply)
Our Well-being Buddies promote and deliver assemblies on positive mental health and well-being throughout the year.
Safeguarding Champions (Apply)
Our Safeguarding Champions monitor and evaluate safeguarding, including e-safety, across our school. They promote safeguarding in school and deliver awareness assemblies to the rest of the children.
Eco Warriors (Apply)
Eco Warriors organise and lead activities to help make our school greener! They meet regularly to discuss and plan eco-projects. They also complete a regular litter pick both within the school's grounds and in the wider community of Kenton.
We are excited by the range and depth of leadership activities we have across the school and look forward to watching our students develop thought out the year.
