National Day of Reflection and Wall of Remembrance

17th March 2023

Dear Parents and Carers of St Cuthbert’s,

National Day of Reflection

St Cuthbert’s Wall of Remembrance

We have been inspired by the upcoming Marie Curie National Day of Reflection due to be held later in March to host our own day of reflection. The day of reflection is a planned opportunity to remember loved ones who’ve died, support people who are grieving, and connect with each other.

St Cuthbert’s will be hosting our own day of reflection on Friday March 24 2023. As part of this day, we will be giving a wooden heart to each child in the school from Reception through to Year 6. Children will be bringing the heart home to their families to decorate with the name of a lost loved one and any other decoration families wish to add. Mr Dodds has gathered together some possible ideas to decorate your wooden heart – please see below.

Once decorated, we are then asking for the hearts to be returned to school (by Friday 31st March) so that we can display them in our main hall creating a St Cuthbert’s Wall of Remembrance. If any families want to collect any extra hearts to decorate and contribute to the display, these will be available from our school office.

In the future, the National Day of Reflection and Wall of Remembrance will become a part of our school year of prayer. The wall can be added to as and when the need arises and the wooden hearts will be available all year round.

If you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact school.

Best wishes,

Mrs Anne Bullerwell

Headteacher
