Year 6 Autumn 2025
Year 6 wrote and performed Poems based on The Undefeated, as part of Black History studies. Year 6 loved creating their own poses as part of dance this week! They have been working hard to practise their new routines. Year 6 had a brilliant first week back and enjoyed programming code for the Microbit using their iPads. Year 4 Autumn 2025
Year 4 investigated how sound travels this week. We used drums, tuning forks and metal hangers to explore different ways we can see sound travelling. Year 4 loved Latin this week. We read the story of Pandora in Latin and retold some of this to our partners! We are also making good progress learning Crocodile Rock on ukuleles! Nursery Autumn 2025
This week in Nursery we completed the dragon’s quest to rescue the princess. During this quest we had to balance on the stepping stones, crawl through the thorny forest, tip toe past the dragon and rescue the princess. On Friday we enjoyed a ‘ Magical Kingdom Day’. We danced in the hall, played party games, made crowns and enjoyed a royal feast. We have had a magical adventure in Nursery this week. Year 5 Autumn 2025
5 had a choice of golden time or a PE activity. Democracy ruled, PE was voted for and we played two games. The teamwork and determination was super. We have unearthed some potential netballers, volleyballers and basketballers of the future. Wow, what a busy week in Year 5! We've had a visit from the school nurse, used wax resistant techniques in Art and celebrated the end of our RE topic, in the presence of God. Reception: Autumn 2025
Reception class enjoyed it when some of our families came into school to read us some stories. We loved listening to the story of the Gruffalo that Mrs Marley read to us in the library and had fun guessing which creature was trying to trick the mouse next. We couldn't believe how clever the mouse was. Reception have loved listening to the story of 'Funnybones' and had fun acting it out in the Butterfly Garden. Year 1 Autumn 2025
Year 1 have been inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, an English sculptor who uses natural resources to create beautiful pieces of temporary art. We made ice baubles using berries and fir leaves and decorated the bushes outside! Year 1 have been following the progress of Antarctic explorer Colin O'Brady and comparing his journey with the journey of Captain Scott, over 100 years ago. We found out that the clothes, food and transport the explorers used were all very different in 1912!

Year 3: Autumn 2025
Year 3 loved their Stone Age Day this week! We collected created amulets, practised our hunting skills and investigated what a hunter gatherer may have eaten! Year 3 had a busy start to the week. They were learning new holds in Gymnastics and enjoyed a well earned cube jar afternoon! Well done Year 3! Year 2 Autumn 2025
Year 2 loved their Christmas Dance session this week. What a treat! Eco Warriors Climate Summit
Our Eco-Warriors went to the Youth Climate Summit at Durham University where they took part in a range of workshops and shared ideas with other schools. Our Eco warriors had a great start to the year with a trip to Scotswood gardens to gain ideas for our own forest school!

Care Home visit
Some of our pupils from Year 5 and 6 visited Kenton Hall Care Home this week, to spend some time with the residents and complete some spooky crafts. It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved and we are really excited to continue to make links between school and the care home.

Wonderful Award!
We are delighted to share some exciting news about our school. St Cuthbert’s has been awarded the Champion Heritage School Award by Historic England. This is a national honour recognising schools that celebrate and promote their local area’s heritage. We are especially proud because we are the first school in Tyne & Wear to receive this award. Currently, only eight schools nationwide hold this accolade, and with this second national intake, that number will rise to just six
