West End Refugee Service (WERS)
West End Refugee Service (WERS) is a registered charity that provides support and opportunities to people seeking asylum and refugees on Tyneside. WERS works to bring about positive change to the lives of people whose futures have been irrevocably changed by past events in their home country.

Services Provided:
Face-to-Face drop ins for support with any issues, including: housing, education, health, benefits, education, accessing legal advice.
WERS works with local food banks, charities and local communities to provide food parcels, toiletries, nappies and sanitary products, clothes and basic household goods.
Financial Support for those experiencing hardship.
WERS' Buddying Scheme provides an opportunity for support from a volunteer who you can spend time with socially, show you around the city, you get to know your local area, practice your English, support you to settle and make connections.
Skillsmatch is a platform that matches the skills, experiences and interests of people seeking asylum and refugees with a broad range of rewarding volunteering opportunities in the Newcastle area.

North of England Refugee Service (NERS)
NERS is an independent and charitable organisation which exists to meet the needs and promote the interests of asylum seekers and refugees who have arrived or have settled in the North of England.

Services Provided:
An Asylum Advice Service which provides advice and support to people throughout all stages of their asylum process -from the pre-asylum application stage, through the time the claim is in process, and if granted refugee status or leave to remain, during the transition into mainstream society.
An Integration service, which provides support to those granted refugee status and leave to remain to help them rebuild lives in the UK.
Supported housing project, which provides housing to individuals granted leave to remain, who are also vulnerable and in need of further support. The service provides short term housing and appropriate individualised support for up to two years and until clients can move on from supported housing to independent living.
Interpreting and translation services provided by NERS' highly trained and experienced interpreters.

Free Drop-in advice service for Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants on Tuesdays 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Newcastle City Council
Newcastle City Council have a dedicated team of Local Authority Asylum Seeker Liaison Officers (LAASLOs) who can support you during the asylum process. These officers will support the ‘move on’ process if you are granted refugee status and will offer advice and signposting if you receive a negative decision on your asylum claim.
