Year 2: Spring 2025

Year 2 loved their Easter Craft activities this week!



In D&T this week, the Year 2 children designed, built and evaluated their Lunar Roving Vehicle toys. They had 3 criteria to meet in their build: 1) The product must have 2 working axels; 2) The product must be no longer than 15cm; 3) The product must be able to hold 2 model astronauts. As you can see they have done a fantastic job!




Year 2 have been learning racquet skills and playing Tennis this week.




Year two have been learning about symmetry by using mirrors to decide whether a 2D shape is symmetrical or not.



Year 2 have loved learning to play the glockenspiel this week.




Y2 Explored the work of Wassily Kandinsky. We considered how colours can make us feel emotions and created oil pastel artwork inspired by his art.



Year 2 have been exploring the story of the Last Supper through role-play this week!




This week, Year 2 have been measuring mass. We compared the mass of different objects and moved on to reading scales in grams and kilograms




Year 2 investigated buoyancy by testing different materials and using their findings to design and build boats. Each boat had to be under 15cm, float for 2 minutes, and hold 5 cubes. After testing, we evaluated our designs to see what worked best and how we could improve next time!




Year 2 have been writing and performing their own 'Imagine' poems.





Year 2 have been investigating how exercise effects our bodies, here we are observing the change in our heart rate before and after physical activity.
