Year 5: Summer 2025

Falcon fun in the Sun! Y5 enjoyed their PE lesson with the Falcons. We played lots of games and were able to invade the oppositions area in small-sided games. A super afternoon!

Year 5 have loved being with their friends this week indoors and outside!

Year 5 had an excellent day in Beamish! We made rockets, were interviewed by tank engineers, tested our amazing crane, went to a Victorian school, sang with a bus driver and made ice-cream! Were we tired? No! After this, we had a sleepover in school - roasted marshmallows, played games, made pizzas and enjoyed a film! What an epic day! Special mention to all the staff that have supported our day - a huge 'thank you' from Y5!

Year 5 and Year 1 enjoyed a 'Bible Buddy' session. We will be working together on this project to engage with a variety of Bible stories. We read a story together and then we wrote prayers together. It was lovely to see our Year 5 and Year 1 friends working so well as a team.

Year 5 were brilliant in today's class assembly, sharing our Year 5 journey and how important it is to work as a team!

Dr Hickey visited Y5 to give them some engineering advice for the up-and-coming Beamish competition. He gave us important insights into his job and how a balanced crane could be constructed. We loved it! Thank you, Dr Hickey.

Y5 enjoyed orienteering this week. They had specific check points to achieve around the school grounds, whilst using a map. Great cross-curricular maths activity and learning to work as a team!

Year 5 loved their visit from Robert, who told them all about the Beamish Museum Crane contest they are taking part in across the Summer.

Year 5 loved coming into school in red, white and blue to celebrate VE day. They also enjoyed learning and exploring OS map symbols and their meanings.

Year 5 have loved been directors this week, experimenting with different video angles in our computing session this week.
