Reception: Summer 2025

Reception had a full cube jar and loved celebrating by wearing their own clothes, having a disco and playing party games.

Reception have been talking about how we can be a good friend to everyone as part of our RE topic. In our collective worship we heard about how Jesus wants us all to love each other and be great friends. We love being with our friends at school.

Reception enjoyed having visitors come into our class to talk about their jobs. We learned about the role of a firefighter who works at the airport and discovered the tasks a bus driver carries out.

Reception love joining in with different sports activities.  We have fun playing football in the Butterfly Garden and have  enjoyed practising different events on the field ready for Sports Day next week.

Reception have enjoyed learning new facts about minibeasts.  We've painted our favourite minibeasts and have planted some flowers in the Butterfly Garden to attract more minibeasts.

We went on a minibeast hunt in the Butterfly Garden and Forest School. We found lots of creepy crawlies before having a story about a spider who liked to play football!

Reception have enjoyed being the lifeguards whilst playing with our small world rescue centre.  We also have looked at photos of 'People who help us' and their vehicles from the past and now.  We sorted them into two groups of 'now' and 'then'.

Reception have loved telling stories on our fire engine and in our police station in the Butterfly Garden.  On Friday, we enjoyed coming to school dressed as  a person who helps others in their job.  We looked fantastic.  Can you guess who we are?

Reception enjoyed going for a walk around Kenton to look at places where 'people who help us work'. We saw postal workers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, paramedics, shop keepers & council workers cutting down trees.

On Wednesday, we brought in our own teddies & pretended they had hurt themselves. We took on the role of the doctor and treated our teddy patients to make them feel better.

Reception had great fun in their first 'Rugby Minis' coaching session. They played 'Stuck in the Mud', 'What's the Time Mr Wolf', threw the rugby ball and learnt how to place it on a spot to score a try.
